Provence offers visitors something for all seasons.
January is quiet and suits those who are looking for some piece of mind. It can sometimes be cold but most of the time it is clear and refreshing. Skiing is not too far away for day trips for those who want to explore the slopes.
In February and March it is possible to enjoy both breakfast and lunch outside. The mimosa and the lillies are blooming and the first roses come to life.
From the beginning of April all meals can be served outside, and we open our pool for the season for the bravest amongst us.
The months of May, June, July and August make out the traditional summer season. The summer months are splendid with clear blue skies, lavender fields are in bloom and the temperatures are very comfortable. The famous provencal Mistral, which is the wind travelling down the Rhone valley, is both a curse and a blessing. It is the prime reason for the exceptionally clear blue skies in the area and in the midst of the mid summer it offers relief from the pressing heat, but early or late in the season it can sometimes feel cold in particular in the evening.
September is the month of the wine harvest in Provence. There will be plenty of "fete de village", and this is the best time to visit a Château or Domain to test - and stock up on - the superb local wines. The temperatures will usually still be very comfortable around the mid-twenties and the pool will still be in use.
October and November usually still hold very comfortable temperatures. More often than not we will have blue skies and close to 20 degrees. In the middle of November to the middle of January the olive harvest takes place.
Last but not least, the December in Provence celebrating Christmas and New Year's holiday can be a great experience in Provence!
